My dear Amigos ROTIans,

At my last message to you I mentioned that "we were going to keep improving more actions"; and the most important is to begin from the inner part of ROTI.

Because of that, our BOD has been working during the last month on one of the most important part of our Fellowship; which are our By Laws. Thanks to the excellent work of our ROTY 09 and BOD’s member Mike Barr and our Vice Chair, Norm Winterbottom the final document is ready.

The intense work has been positive and we are convinced that we have a new platform to achieve our goals for a ROTI Future Vision.

Besides, I have asked ROTIan Mike Barr to refer a brief Report of all this great task; which you will see at out site.

About ROTI Breadbasket I want to inform you that we are doing some changes that will result in your interest. There is a new ROTI Interviews chapter where you will see what some PRIPs, RI Directors, PDGs, as well as great Rotarians will share to all ROTIans.

We are moving forward to new and better challenges but we need to know what do you think and what would you like to see and have at ROTI.

Mike's report on by-laws revision:

This month one of the first efforts by our new Chairman Leticia Parra was completed. The ROTI board of directors finished updating the ROTI Bylaws. The update was an effort of the entire board, coordinated by Mike Barr and went over the ten year old document line by line in order to bring it up to date. There were no major changes, but were mostly streamlining and wording changes in an effort to make the document more precise. The new document makes it easier for each Chairman to decide how many directors they wanted, clarified the election process to reflect current procedures and changed the dates of the election to shorten the time between the election and taking office by about a month and a half. This still leaves plenty of time for planning with less waiting time for each new Chairman before taking office. Care was taken to make sure we would have the election process completed in plenty of time before the R.I. deadline for reporting our new officers for inclusion in the R.I. Directory.

In the process, references to ROTI programs that are no longer active were eliminated and also made clear and simple the line of succession or procedure to follow should a chairman or board member resign. Of the changes made, 20 were simple wording changes to make something clearer or to use proper language. In the process of cleaning the document up a bit, 184 words were deleted and 75 words added making the document 109 words shorter. Not that that was a goal for the board but still a very nice by product.
